Walking into Yiwu International Trade City for the first time can feel overwhelming. It’s huge, busy, and packed with endless rows of shops. But here’s the good news: once you understand how the market is organized, it becomes much easier to navigate.
Yiwu Market is not random. It’s actually laid out in a very systematic way. If you know which district and floor to go to, you can save a lot of time and find the right suppliers much faster and easier.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through the layout of Yiwu International Trade City (also called Yiwu Futian Market), what each district is known for, and a few practical tips to help you move around the market efficiently.
* Quick note: Product categories and floor layouts can shift over time, so it’s always a good idea to double-check the latest market directory with your agent before your visit.
Yiwu Market Layout at a Glance
Yiwu International Trade City is now divided into 6 main districts (District 1 to District 6). With the opening of the new District 6 (Opened at Oct 14th, 2025), buyers now have even more category coverage – especially in fashion jewelry, beauty and skincare, baby products, smart devices, and travel-related goods.
Each district is a separate building, but they’re connected by walkways and skybridges / overpass, and there are also shuttle buses during market hours.
A simple way to think about the layout is:

How to Navigate Yiwu Market Efficiently
Each district is huge – think “huge shopping mall” size, but packed with wholesale booths. It’s very easy to lose track of where you are, especially on your first visit. These tips will help you stay organized and save time.
1) Get a Map or Directory First
At the entrance of each district (and often in nearby hotels), you can usually find a free market map or directory. These are very helpful because they show:
- Floor layout
- Product zones
- Section / category groupings
Many maps include both Chinese and English.
You’ll also find electronic information boards inside the market. These touchscreen directories let you search by product keyword or company name. All these touchscreens, you can type in English.
For example, if you search “backpack”, it may show something like:
- District 2
- 1st floor
- Bag section
- Booths recommendation
That can save you a lot of walking.
2) Use Yiwugo (Website or App)
The official Yiwugo platform is very useful, especially if:
- you already have a supplier name
- you have a booth number
- you want to check product categories before walking over
Think of it like a practical helper for booth search – not perfect, but definitely worth using when you’re on-site.
3) Plan by District, Not by “Everything”
One of the biggest mistakes first-time buyers make is trying to cover the whole market in one day. Don’t do that.
Yiwu Market is simply too big.
A better approach:
- 1 day visit: Focus on the single district most relevant to your products
- 2–3 days: Combine nearby priorities (for example, District 1 + part of District 2)
- 4+ days: Cover each district more thoroughly and revisit shortlisted suppliers
If your product list is mixed, group it by district before you go. That alone can save hours.
4) Walk Aisle by Aisle (and Record Booth Numbers)
Inside each district, booths are arranged in long rows with numbered aisles and sections. You’ll see booth numbers like:
- A1-0680 to A1-0700
- then the next row continues nearby
It’s tempting to jump around when something catches your eye, but the best strategy is to go row by row. That way, you won’t miss nearby suppliers.
Also, always write down:
- Booth number
- Supplier name
- Product type
- Price notes (or photo reference)
If you don’t, it’s very easy to lose track later and wonder:
“Where was that supplier with the good packaging?”
A simple notebook or a notes app works fine. Some buyers also mark completed aisles on a printed map.
5) Use Signs as a Guide – But Still Peek Inside
Many shop signs include Chinese and some English keywords, such as:
- Toys & Gifts
- Stationery
- Hardware
- Import & Export
The English may not always be perfect, but it usually gives you a good clue.
That said, don’t rely only on the sign. Sometimes a booth is labeled very generally, but the actual products inside are exactly what you need. It’s worth taking a quick look.
6) Know Where the Facilities Are

Bank of China’s 24-hour ATM and self-service currency exchange kiosks located at the West Gate Hall of Yiwu International Trade City District 2. These kiosks offer RMB withdrawals via international cards (Visa, MasterCard, JCB, American Express and Dale etc.) and support exchange of 18 major foreign currencies. The ATM sets a limit of RMB 3,000 per withdrawal

Bakery and light-snack zone at Yiwu International Trade City, District 4, 2nd floor, middle of 18th Street—grab coffee, cakes and packaged treats while you rest.
You’ll find useful facilities inside each district, including:
- Restrooms
- ATMs
- Snack Shops / Food Courts
- Information Desks
- Security Staff
- Shipping Or Mailing Service Areas (For Samples / Documents)
A practical tip: once you arrive on a floor, quickly notice where the nearest restroom and coffee / tea stop are. After a few hours of walking, you’ll be glad you did.
7) Use the Free Shuttle Buses (or Walk the Skybridges)
There are free shuttle buses that run between districts and nearby areas, and they’re handy if you’re moving across the complex – especially from one far end to the other.
If you’re moving between adjacent districts, walking through the connected corridors or skybridges is often easy enough. But if your feet are tired (and they probably will be), the shuttle is a great option.
A short taxi ride also works if needed.
8) Dress Comfortably (Layers Help)
Yiwu Market is indoors, but temperatures can vary depending on the building and air conditioning. You’ll also be walking a lot, so comfort matters.
What works well:
- Comfortable clothes
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Light layers (easy to remove if you get warm)
Most buyers dress business-casual or casual (polo, T-shirt, jeans, sneakers). You don’t need a formal suit.
9) Bring Water and Take Breaks
This sounds simple, but it makes a huge difference.
When you’re busy checking products and comparing suppliers, it’s easy to forget to drink water or stop for a break. Bring a bottle of water (or buy drinks inside the market), and plan a short lunch break.
There are usually plenty of food options nearby, including:
- Chinese fast-food cafeterias
- Snack stalls
- Chain restaurants in or around the district areas
A 20–30 minute break can help you recharge and avoid burning out halfway through the day.
Final Tip: Use Product Clusters to Compare Faster
One of the best things about Yiwu is how products are grouped.
If you find one supplier selling something you like, chances are the neighboring booths have similar products too. This makes it much easier to compare:
- Designs / Styles
- Quality
- MOQ
- Packaging
- Pricing
So when you find a promising booth, don’t make a decision too quickly. Walk a little further and compare a few more suppliers in the same row or nearby rows.
That’s where Yiwu really shines.
Kevin:
Yiwu Market can feel like a maze at first, but once you understand the district layout, it becomes much more manageable. The key is to plan ahead, focus on the right district, and stay organized while you walk the aisles.
If you use the market map, follow a clear route, and take good notes, you’ll be able to cover more suppliers in less time – and make better sourcing decisions.
